First Braves game for me in 2010!

I was forced to break tradition this year when I couldn't attend the Braves Home Opener, which they won 16-5 over the Chicago Cubs! :) However, it didn't take me long before I made it to my first game this year. I went on Sunday, April 18th with two of my friends that I met while living in Savannah.

On Saturday, April 17th the Braves were NO HIT by the Colorado Rockies pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez. As a Braves fan, that wasn't exactly the best news. For Sunday's game I scored us some pretty awesome seats. We were sitting row 2 from the field on the third base side. Right before the game started I saw a Rockies player doing an autograph session, and when he was walking towards the dugout I noticed it was Jimenez, and I yelled "Hey! Would you autograph this ball for me? Please!" He kindly stopped, and did so.:) I asked him to also include No hitter, and he did just that as well. Shoot, now I have a piece of history so that is pretty awesome.

The game itself was not at all a no-doubter. Long story short, the Braves were down one run in the ninth inning, and after loading the bases with two out Jason Heyward belts a two-run single to left field. The Braves WIN 4-3!! :)

Spring Break in Canada:)

So, it's officially SPRING BREAK! Friday I had a great flight up to Canada. I left out of the Savannah-Hilton Head airport at noon, arrived at the airport in Detroit around 2:30, and my final plane landed in Toronto at 4:20! The custom officials didn't give me a hard time other than asking the usual...How long are you staying in Canada? Where are you going? Who are you visiting? Are you bringing in any gifts? Blah, blah, blah.

JT and Jordan are stocked that I am here, and so is my brother. The kids, however, are worried that I'm going to leave them so they both stay glued to my side. :) Saturday night it had began to snow, and come Saturday morning there was almost a foot of new snow. Jordan and I made our first snowman together (my first since it last snowed in Georgia back in 1989 when I was 2). I was super excited about the snow, so Jordan and I actually built a second snowman the next day when we walked down to the park. The snow is beautiful! Everywhere I look all I see are fields of snow with patches of grass here and there--below are some of the pictures I took.

SNOW in Southeast Georgia:)

Twenty years ago was the last time we saw snow in southeast Georgia. Boy have we had to wait! I found it funny, however, that the one day the weather calls for snow I have to work night shift. Go figure! Talking about one anxious girl ready to get off work! It started snowing at 8:45pm in Savannah, and after a QUICK closing up of the store--we were out the doors by 9:05! Those flakes were HUGE! Although the snow didn't stick--it was worth it!

And the days keep going...

Well, it's approaching a month since my last post and a lot has happened since. Classes have been in session for a month, and they are going very well. I had my first Education 2130 test tonight, and I walked out feeling like a made a 100.:)

Today I did my first field experience of the semester, and went to Mercer Middle School in Garden City, GA. It only took one day to realize that I definitely don't want to teach Middle grades. Those kids do not behave well. I guess they're just at that stage. As I was observing those students, I couldn't help but to think that when my peers and I was in their shoes--we didn't act that way. I was telling my classmate tonight about my day, and through my observation, I would feel confident to say that the school is 95% African American. She shared with me that she used to attend Mercer Middle (which was close to 15 years ago, and the ratio of race has always been that way). She also told me that she thought they acted the way they do because they come from low-income families. Therefore, the parent's are probably out of the home working more, and that could result in the student's misbehaving. It made sense to me.

Not only do I have observations to do at the Middle School, but I also have observations to do at a High School and Elementary school this semester (which I have yet to be placed in those schools). I hope they place me soon because I really want to be finished with ALL my observations and the papers I have to write about them by Friday, March 12th (the Friday before Spring Break). I want to stay ahead this semester because I'm aiming for all A's, and I feel like that is the best way to do it.

SO, Spring break starts Friday, March 12th for me! I'm skipping one of my classes because I have a 12pm flight out of Savannah to Toronto, Ontario! I can not wait to land on Canada soil!! I miss my family SO much!! My flight arrives around 5pm, so it's a pretty short flight--Thank God!:) I'll be there that entire week, and the following Saturday we're all Georgia bound. ROAD TRIP! I know my brother is excited to actually be coming back home after spending 11 months away. They're staying the week of March 21-27, and then they'll be Canada bound. :'(

I'm moving back to Jesup in June!! I, too, can NOT wait for that day to arrive! I might not be able to transfer back to my job, so if that is the case I am departing with Cato. I'm actually kind of excited that I may have to quit my job after 7.5 years. I'm thinking its past due time for me to enjoy life beyond the working field, so needless to say, I want to focus on graduating College!

Happy Birthday to me......Lol.

Wow, it's hard to believe that is my birthday already! The day itself is kind of a drag, and I'm debating whether or not to go to class--since its a drag I might as well attend. Lol. Thursday my parent's and I are Tennessee bound. This will make it our third year in a row--skiing this weekend is going to be a blast!

Classes this semester are great. I'm enjoying it a lot so far. I really think I have finally picked the right profession to study! It's so exciting!

Thanksgiving this year wasn't the same, and sadly I really wasn't in the mood. Umm....maybe it had something to do with my brother and family not being here with us.

FINALLY--I have some news, and this time it going to stick! When I first enter College my major was Early Childhood Education, and later it changed to everything you can think of in the medical field....well, I have decided to stop spinning my wheels and return back to my first major. :) ECE is where my heart is--I love, love, love working with children, so I know this is a good choice. As for my other passion (Interior Design) it'll just have to be a side thing...maybe I can do that during those times school is out. :)

It seems like I've been doing a lot of complaining in recent blog entries. As I read back on previous posts I can't help but to sit here and think--What happened to the happy girl?! I've complained about work, school, living in Savannah, expressing my being upset that my brother and his family moved away from me, etc. Is life really as bad as I'm making it to be? Probably not. I've went from being happy to sad and alone, yet I'm not alone. I just don't understand it sometimes. I go through these moments where everything seems to being going my way, and then the next thing I know it's in reverse. Perhaps I should start living this new life that I have in Savannah differently. Maybe looking at everything more positively would be a great start. I'm sure if I give Armstrong a real chance it'll grow on me, and even though working in the mall isn't exactly where I want to be--maybe that is where I'm supposed to be. Just last week I complained to my district manager, and asked her for a transfer. We had it all figured out--I would switch with someone in Hinesville. The perfect plan was then shot because the next day that lady quit, which was a bummer for me. So, yes, I'm still stuck in the mall where I don't want to be, but hey--got to be more positive!:) In fact, I'm getting really positive because I already have a feeling that next semester is going to rock--well, I guess that is having faith. By the way, I have a dilemma--I've been here in Savannah for three months (unfortunately taking online classes too), and I have only made one friend (and that is because we work together lol). If I'm going to be more positive I have got to figure out where people my age hang out around here, so that way it'll be a bit easier for me to make friends. Any ideas? Well, I guess I'll end it on that note--until next time:)

Sold!:(

It's official!! My brother's house has sold! So, now--the likelihood of the family moving back to Georgia is slim to none. :( OooooHhhhh...I need to move!

As a follow up: Braves ended their best month of the season "in fashion" as they went 0-6--maybe next year guys. :)

Anyways, this past weekend was pretty good. I was home for the majority of it. Friday evening I had a girls night out with Christy and her four-month old baby Skylar, and we had a great time. Then Saturday I had to come back to Savannah for work-then it was back to Jesup I went after getting off just after 9PM. Sunday I was able to attend church for the first time in three weeks (since I had to work back-to-back Sunday's, and the Braves game the prior Sunday). It felt good to be there, and fellowship with my church family. Now that my weekend has came to an end--I find myself sitting in my room wishing I didn't have to go to work.

It's Fall Break at Armstrong--Thank God! I need a break--too bad it's only for two days--what kind of break is that?! Lol. I have almost made my mind up...I'm going to stay at Armstrong for Spring semester too, and if I still don't like it I'm going to transfer to another school for the last time! Plus, if I decide to major in the "fun career"--I'd have to transfer anyways because Armstrong doesn't offer that field. I'm going to turn it all over to God 100%, and I know He'll lead me in the right direction.

Well, work is calling my name unfortunately. SO, until next time.:)

Much needed update

Wow, it's hard to believe that I haven't at least wrote an update in what seems to be a month. School is going okay, and I say okay because I am no liking Armstrong at all. I can't exactly place my finger on it, though. Maybe it is because my living situation sucks, and work does too. My roommate leaves out every Thursday, and drives back home to Waycross until late Sunday. I go home myself every week, but nothing compared to her. Then work-I hate working in the mall with a passion. I seem to work with a "Mrs. Know-It-All," and sadly, what she thinks she knows isn't exactly correct. So needless to say, not only does working with people that think they know more than I do suck, but the clientele is awful! I deal with more rude people than ever, and if it wasn't for needing to keep medical insurance I wouldn't be working right now. I wish I would stop being so indecisive, pick a major, and stick with it. I have seriously been thinking about trying something completely different (career wise). I think it would be a fun job, but I don't want to say too much about it since I am (here lately) known best for being indecisive.

Back on September 6th I went to watch the Atlanta Braves. That game was like none other that I've been to. Lets just say, I saw Garrett Anderson and Nate McClouth ran right into each other while trying to field a fly ball (it was funny), the game actually went into extra innings, and in the top of the twelfth Atlanta pitcher hit Micah Owings in the head. SO, if you guessed the Braves lost that game then you were right. Since that game the Braves have really put a run for it in the Wild Card race, and really do have a chance to make it to the playoffs this year (first time since 2005). I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that they do! OH, about to forget, I'm going to the game this Sunday (the last game of the season). Hopefully they will win not only the game, but will have won the spot for a chance to go the World Series.
